A Broadly Protecting Influenza Vaccine Relies on New Adjuvans Effects-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS - OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF DAIRY & VETERINARY SCIENCES Short Communication Vaccines used against seasonal influenza are poorly effective against influenza A viruses of novel subtypes that may cause pandemic. Pre-pandemic influenza vaccines are poorly immunogenic against the upcoming pandemic virus that might be overcome by the use of a potent adjuvant. In humans, a limited number of adjuvants has been approved for human use and mostly human influenza vaccines are not adjuvanted.Furthermore, pre-pandemic influenza vaccines are poorly immunogenic to the upcoming pandemic. Thus, there is a need for alternative safe and effective adjuvants that can enhance the immunogenicity of influenza vaccines and that promote the induction of broad-protective T cell responses. Most studies of pandemic outbreaks have been done in humans. Also in animal spp problems exist with influenza virus infections. However, in the animal field the situation is different whe...

Time of Insemination Relative to onset of Activity Threshold of Cow Manager ® is Associated with Pregnancy Risk When Using Gender Selected ™ Semen for Jersey Cattle-Juniper Publishers

JUNIPER PUBLISHERS - OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF DAIRY & VETERINARY SCIENCES Abstract Data from several research studies over the last five years in dairy and beef cattle have indicated that insemination closer to the time of ovulation than with conventional semen may improve conception rates. Previous data indicated that insemination between 8 to 16 post activity thresholds [Select Detect) was ideal for use with conventional semen in lactating Holstein cows [ 1 ]. A recent study [ 2 ] indicated that the optimal timing of insemination using an activity system [SCR Engineers ltd., Netanya, Israel) occurred somewhere between 23 to 41 h after the reaching the activity threshold activity level in lactating Jersey cows. The current study was designed to determine the optimal time of insemination in Jersey cattle (cows and heifers) based on the onset of activity defined by the Cow Manager® system.
