Mini Review on the Dynamic Probiotic-Bacillus coagulans-Juniper Publishers

Image
Journal of Dairy & Veterinary Sciences - Juniper Publishers   Introduction Health benefits imparted by probitoics and their roles in maintaining health and disease prevention has been an area of extensive research in the past few decades. Some of the commonly used probiotics include Lactobacillus rhamnosus, L. reuteri, Bacillus coagulans, E. coli Nissle 1917, some enterococci and yeasts like Saccharomyces boulardii etc. Pandey et al. [ 1 ] have reviewed the major health benefits (and their probable mechanisms of action) ranging from diarrhea to cancer prevention etc. One of the nastiest technological problems probiotic fermentation industries face is loss of viable cell count during harsh processing conditions. Spore forming Bacillus probiotics remain in huge demand due to their ability to withstand the stringent processing conditions. One of the sturdiest probiotics is B. coagulans Bacillus coagul...

Tarsus-Metarsus Duplication and Polydactyly in Wild Greater Rhea, Rhea Americana, from South Brazil - Case Report-Juniper Publishers

Image
Journal of Dairy & Veterinary Sciences - Juniper Publishers     Introduction Polydactyly is a well studied congenital deformities observed in newborns that may involves the presence of more than the usual number of digits mainly in the upper extremities. In animals, this condition is recorded in several species such cats, dogs, guinea pigs, fowl, tortoises and birds [ 1 - 3 ]. It is important to note that each species has its own unique characteristics and different modes of inheritance. Polydactyly in the cat is most similar to that seen in the fowl, with exception of the mirror imaging seen in the latter [ 3 ]. In birds, this anomaly is caused due to the expression of a dominant autossomicalel [ 4 ] being recorded in chicken and rapine birds [ 3 - 5 ]. The greater rhea, Rhea Americana, is a common species in Brazil. Five subspecies are recognized being Rhea Americana intermedius those found in wild population from southeastern Brazi...

The Classical Swine Fever Problem in East Nusa Tenggara and its Controlling- Juniper Publishers

Image
Journal of Dairy & Veterinary Sciences - Juniper Publishers Classical Swine Fever Problem in East Nusa Tenggara One of the main causes of pig production and reproductive failure in Indonesia especially in East Nusa Tenggara is infectious and non-infectious diseases. One of the viral diseases that can attack pigs is Hog Cholera or Classical Swine Fever (CSF). Hog cholera or Classical Swine Fever (CSF), is an infectious viral disease caused by the hog cholera/ CSF virus. The CSF disease is still a problem in the livestock industry in East Nusa Tenggara and has the potential to have a negative impact on socio-economy, causing high animal mortality and causing public unrest. This disease can occur acutely, sub acute, and chronic accompanied by high morbidity and mortality 95-100%. Classical Swine Fever disease in East Nusa Tenggara was first reported in 1996 -97 on Timor Island and until 2017 most of the islands of East Nusa Tenggara province were already infected with CSF[1]...

Effect of Selenium and Vitamin E on Development and Viability of Preimplanted Mouse Embryo- Juniper Publishers

Image
Journal of Dairy & Veterinary Sciences - Juniper Publishers Abstract In vitro culture results higher level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) oxygen than in vivo environments that cause lipid peroxidation of cellular membranes. Selenium (Se) and Vitamin E (Vit-E) are the important antioxidants that protect mammalian cells against lipid peroxidation. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate whether Se or Vit-E and Se+Vit-E overcome the the undesirable oxidative stress produced by hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) and enhance the development of pre implanted mouse embryo. Co-incubating the embryos with 60nM Se and/or 100nM Vit-E were increased (P<0.05) the blastocyst development rate. The addition of H 2 O 2 reduced the development of mouse embryo, but the addition of Vit-E, Se and Se+Vit-E reduced the detrimental effect of H 2 O 2 and influenced the higher rate of development to blastocysts, compared to CZB alone (P<0.05). The incorporation an...

Evaluation of the Incorporation of Sheep Manure on Pasture Panicum Maximum Cv Tanzania in a Silvopastoral System- Juniper Publishers

Image
Journal of Dairy & Veterinary Sciences - Juniper Publishers Abstract The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of sheep manure production and nutritive value of   Panicum maximum   cv. Tanzania was included in a silvopastoral system (SPS). Applied a design completely random, using three treatments: T1 = Control T2 = this consists in the addition of 4kg sheep manure and T3 = this consists with the incorporation of 8 kg sheep manure with three replicates per treatment. The Biomass according to production of green matter (GM) and dry matter (DM) was evaluated. So also we evaluated the relationship of leaf-steam and the contribution of organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of   Panicum maximum   cv. Tanzania to 112 days after its sowing. The results showed no statistically significant differences between treatments for the variables that were evaluated. The incorporation of sheep manure no significant change to ...
